Hold luggage can sometimes be on the pricier side, and if you’ve already forked out for an expensive summer in the sun then paying that extra bit more might be taking the biscuit a bit. Since you’ll be looking to absolutely maximise your baggage space you’re going to want to only take exactly what you need for your holiday. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t still look great!
To make sure that you stay absolutely on point – without having to spend any more money – stick to these recommendations for your summer holiday essentials which I’ve kindly put together for you.
How nice of me, right?
I mean, it’s not exactly a summer holiday if you’re not wearing a pair of sunnies is it? While some of you lot might be planning to head away from Australia in the summer to escape the heat, the real trick is to do your holidays in the winter so that you maximise that sweet, sweet heat and sunshine all year round. You won’t be seeing any vitamin-D deficiency around these parts, I tell you.
The midi dress is to summer holidays, what a pair of overalls is to a mechanic – essentially a uniform. Midi dresses are perfect for looking good in the heat, and since they’re so popular you can reliably find a design or style that suits you perfectly.
If you’re looking to make more of an impression, but still want to stick to the summer classics, then you can also try a jumpsuit with a design that really makes a statement.
Well, maybe not everything. But you really can’t go wrong with either a straw hat or bag for when you’re out in the sun. Lightweight and flexible, they’ll help you to keep cool while showing off some of that classic summer chic at the same time. What’s not to like?
A Breton T-shirt
While the origins of this blue and white striped design might be in France, that doesn’t mean that the French should have a monopoly on looking good. As an open shoulder, halter top or even a standard tee you can’t go wrong with a Breton. Now you just need to find a charming Frenchman to go with it.
Just about everyone is wearing some sort of cutoffs in the summer these days, but since I’m a stickler for good old-fashioned family values, I only wear mine in the classic denim. Feel free to wear them in any of the other sacrilegious materials, but just know that I’ll be watching from afar…judging you.
I’m always fighting against my natural desires to wear a one-piece in the style that was championed by my granny, but I’m well aware that the vast majority of people prefer the look of a bikini. No matter what style you go with, make sure that you get something that you’re comfortable in and is appropriate for whatever country you’re visiting. The last thing you want to do is see a picture of yourself under the headline of “Aussie Causes National Scandal with String Bikini” on ABC.
Now that your brain is exploding with ideas for your time away in the sun, you’re probably desperately scrambling to the door so that you can head to the shops and find the right outfit to gain my approval. Well, don’t get yourself in too much of a kerfuffle, because you can find plenty of ways to save on clothing and accessories online.
You can thank me later.
